The Great Pamper Rush at Daycare
I strolled over to my co-worker bro at daycare, feeling the weight of the morning’s chaos. “Hey man, I’m heading out for a break,” I said, trying to catch my breath. “Just changed Mitchell’s pamper, but I was in such a rush that I totally forgot to wipe his butt!”
He looked at me, eyebrows raised, and nodded slowly. “Okay, got it,” he replied, trying to suppress a grin. I could tell he was both amused and slightly horrified by my admission.
As I turned to leave, I glanced over at Mitchell, who was sitting in the playpen, separate from the other toddlers. He was playing quietly with a few blocks, completely absorbed in his own little world. “Bye-bye, Mitchell!” I called out, waving enthusiastically. He looked up, gave me a big smile, and waved back, blissfully unaware of the chaos I was leaving behind.
“Don’t worry, buddy! You’ll be just fine!” I added, feeling a mix of affection and amusement. It was moments like these that reminded me how special he was, even if he was a bit of a slow learner.
With a chuckle, I turned back to my co-worker and said, “Don’t worry, he’s a tough kid. He’ll survive!” I gave him a playful pat on the back and headed out for lunch, leaving him to deal with the aftermath of my hasty diaper change.
As I walked away, I couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdity of it all. Only at daycare could a simple break turn into a story about forgetting to wipe a kid’s butt. It was just another day in the life, filled with unexpected moments and plenty of laughs!
