Malcom X’s Journey To Greatness - Episode 7: The New Malcolm
What’s good, my dudes? We’re back with more of Malcolm’s epic saga.
After splitting from the Nation of Islam, Malcolm was like a man reborn. His trip to Mecca had opened his eyes to a new way of thinking about race and unity.
Malcolm started preaching a message of black empowerment that wasn’t about hating white folks, but about loving and respecting ourselves. He was all about “human rights” now, not just “civil rights.”
Our boy was dropping knowledge bombs left and right. Check out this fire quote: “Power in defense of freedom is greater than power in behalf of tyranny and oppression, because power, real power, comes from our conviction which produces action, uncompromising action.” Deep stuff, right?
Malcolm was also making moves on the international scene. He was at the African Summit Conference, telling leaders from 34 African nations about the struggle of black folks in America. He was trying to take the fight to the United Nations!
But all this new attention wasn’t sitting well with everyone. Malcolm was getting death threats on the regular, and tensions with the Nation of Islam were at an all-time high.
Next time, we’ll see how these threats started to close in on Malcolm and his family. Don’t miss it, bros!
