Degrees
Today was one of those laid-back days at the daycare, just me and Mitchell getting some work done. As I sat there, I couldn’t help but think about how far he’s come. With his bachelor’s and master’s degrees, it’s wild to see him working here as a side job. The kid’s a math whiz, too—his skills in calculus are impressive for someone so young!
In the middle of our tasks, I called Mitchell over. “Hey, buddy! Come here for a second.” He bounced over, curious about what I wanted. “I’ve got a little challenge for you,” I said with a grin. “Press your face up against my butt!”
Without hesitation, Mitchell leaned in, and I couldn’t resist. I pushed out a fart right into his face. “Alright, now go sit in timeout!” I laughed, knowing he’d take it in stride.
Mitchell turned and headed to the timeout chair, but just before he reached it, he let out a fart of his own. It was a proud moment as he loaded up his pamper, sniffing the air with a satisfied grin. Then, he plopped down in the chair like a good boy, ready to serve his time.
It’s moments like these that make working at the daycare so much fun. Mitchell’s got a bright future ahead, and even in the silly times, he proves just how smart and entertaining he can be!
Once he served his time, I called him over for a change. As I got him all set up, I couldn’t help but smile at him. “You’re going to be a good boy and take your nap without complaining, right?” I asked.
“Okay!” he replied, his eyes bright with enthusiasm. He hit the cot, ready to drift off to dreamland. Meanwhile, his homie in front of him decided it was time to push a load into his pamper. Mitchell sniffed the air, a goofy grin spreading across his face as he settled in for his nap.
In that moment, I realized that even in the silly times, this job brings me joy. Watching these kids embrace their adventures, pamper changes, and all, reminds me of the simple pleasures in life.
