Yo, what’s up, dudes and dudettes! It’s your dude from Calabasas, coming at you with some gnarly spiritual vibes I picked up from these 2020 text messages between Mitchell and Corey Rohm. Like, totally radical stuff, man!

The Start of Something Righteous

So, check it out. Mitchell’s been on this crazy spiritual wave, you know? He’s all like, “Dude, I joined a church and got baptized!” Talk about catching the ultimate spiritual swell, right? And Corey’s all chill, offering to be Mitchell’s go-to Bible bro. That’s some serious bromance, man!

Riding the Bible Wave

Corey’s dropping some serious knowledge bombs on Mitchell about reading the Good Book. He’s all, “Bro, start with Matthew, then hit up Proverbs and Ecclesiastes.” It’s like he’s giving Mitchell the perfect lineup for his spiritual surf session, you feel me?

The Holy Spirit: The Ultimate Stoke

Corey breaks it down about the Holy Spirit, and it’s like he’s describing the perfect barrel. He’s saying it’s God’s promise, sealing us for heaven. That’s some heavy stuff, dudes! It’s like catching the wave of a lifetime, but for eternity!

Baptism: The Ultimate Plunge

Mitchell took the plunge and got baptized in January. It’s like he paddled out and caught the biggest wave of his life! Corey’s explaining how it’s different from getting saved, but both are totally essential for the full spiritual experience. Gnarly!

Hanging Ten with Jesus

As Mitchell’s reading through Matthew, he’s learning about Jesus healing the sick and laying down some righteous laws to live by. It’s like Jesus is the ultimate lifeguard, showing us how to navigate the waves of life without wiping out.

Easter Vibes

The convo wraps up with Mitchell wishing Corey a happy Easter. Even though he’s been busy serving others (totally tubular, bro!), he’s committed to getting back to his Bible reading. That’s some serious dedication, like paddling out even when the waves are rough.

So there you have it, bros and bras! Mitchell and Corey’s spiritual journey is like catching the perfect wave - it takes commitment, guidance, and a willingness to dive in. Keep riding those righteous waves, dudes!

Catch you on the flip side!

Mitchell Abbott: Yes man I will definitely have questions moving forward! Thanks again!

Corey Rohm: 👍

Mitchell Abbott: Hey Corey, it’s Mitchell! How’s it go my man?

Corey Rohm: Hey Mitchell hopefully it’s not to late to text you it’s going good man how are you?

Spiritual Journey Discussion

Mitchell Abbott: I’m good! It’s crazy the past month has been like a whirlwind! Joining a church and getting baptized has changed my life. My church community is really tight knit and within the course of 30 days I have a new friend group (that I’m still adjusting to) that consists of like 10-15 people. I’m still adjusting!

Corey Rohm: Yeah bro so when you were saved you were literally made new

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

Corinthians 5:17

Mitchell Abbott: It’s a beautiful feeling. Are you involved deeply with your church?

Corey Rohm: Not deeply but I am involved. I get really busy with golf

Mitchell Abbott: Congrats on your success with golf btw. I see you shining in IG man. I’m going to try and read the bible front to back within the next 3-6 months!

Corey Rohm: That’s awesome I highly recommend that! Feel free to talk about it with me I’m in chronicles right now

Bible Study Guidance

Mitchell Abbott: I’m trying to figure out the best way for me to start reading on the bible on a regular basis. Should I read it front to back or should I focus on specific portions first?

Corey Rohm: I think you should read specific books first then front to back is what I did and it was great. I would read Matthew, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes in that order. And then read John. You’re spirit will be filled.

Mitchell Abbott: Alright, that’s what i’ll do then!

Corey Rohm: So Matthew is the story of Jesus, Proverbs is the book of wisdom, Ecclesiastes is our purpose in life and what makes us truly happy and then John is another story about Jesus and a lot of Jesus’ words.

Mitchell Abbott: Wow. OK. How long did it typically take you to finish a chapter?

Corey Rohm: I would try and read when you wake up and right before you go to sleep I read probably 2 chapters at a time sometimes more whatever you feel like you’re called to do. A chapter takes like 1-5 minutes a book takes about I don’t know depending on the book 5 minutes- an hour. The names aren’t chapters they’re actually their own books. They are stories and letters about God and God’s people.

Bible Translation and Mentorship

Mitchell Abbott: What translation of the bible do you read?

Corey Rohm: I would read NLT the first time through or NKJ if you can understand it. Don’t feel ignorant bro it’s all love with God’s people.

Mitchell Abbott: Alright I’ll read NLT. Definitely have a hard time understanding NKJ. Lol.

Corey Rohm: Yeah I read NLT the first time through it’s by far the easiest one to understand. And if you read it once as NLT it’ll be easier to understand the Bible as well as being able to comprehend the Bible with different so called versions.

Mitchell Abbott: Are you a pastor?

Corey Rohm: I could have been.

Mitchell Abbott: You should be one! I know you’re busy with golf but you would make such an incredible pastor as well.

Corey Rohm: When I was 5 I made a life choice via an angel of God. I could have taken the short and easy route and had a golf career and had it been cut short due to a back injury cause of my genes and been a pastor afterwards. But I chose that I wanted to play different sports growing up and then golf which was the long and hard route but I’ll appreciate it more at the end.

Continued Support

Mitchell Abbott: Do you mind if I check in with you on my progress with regards to reading the Bible? I don’t want to be annoying LOL.

Corey Rohm: By all means bro check in I would love that.

Mitchell Abbott: I need a mentor. Not saying you have to be one, but having someone to check in w/ is a good start for me hahaha. I’m going to start reading tonight. Just finished reading for about 25m Got through Matthew 1 & 2 about the birth of Jesus. It took a bit longer than 5m because I had to reread a few times. Lol

Corey Rohm: Okay I’ll read the books with you so we can talk about it does that sound good?

Mitchell Abbott: Yes!

Corey Rohm: I just read chapter 1.

Mitchell Abbott: Yes, it set the stage for the rest of the book, right? And talked about how the birth of Jesus came about and how Joseph Mary’s husband was going to divorce Mary after he found out about her pregnancy through the Holy Spirit.

Corey Rohm: [Detailed spiritual explanation about the Holy Spirit and salvation]

Ongoing Dialogue

Mitchell Abbott: Read Matthew chapters 3-5 which talked about the baptism of Christ and his journey as he started to heal the sick and declared laws for us to live by ex: murder divorce adultery loving our enemies & an eye for an eye.

Corey Rohm: Hey Mitchell that’s awesome I’ve been busy but I’ll get to reading don’t wait for me.

Mitchell Abbott: Thanks Corey I’ve been reading on and off throughout the day.

Corey Rohm: Hey Mitchell how is the reading coming along?

Mitchell Abbott: HAPPY EASTER COREY! I’ve been serving non stop this past week but I will get realigned and pick up where I left off tomorrow morning! :)
