Malcom X’s Journey To Greatness - Episode 5: Malcolm Goes Global

What’s poppin’, fellas? We’re back with more of Malcolm’s incredible journey.

By the late '50s, Malcolm was a household name in the States, but he wasn’t content with just domestic fame. In 1959, he took his show on the road, hitting up countries like Ghana, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia. Our boy was going international!

These trips were eye-opening for Malcolm. He saw black and brown folks in positions of power, running their own countries. It was a far cry from the segregated America he knew.

But the real game-changer was his pilgrimage to Mecca in 1964. Malcolm saw Muslims of all colors worshipping together, and it blew his mind. He started to rethink some of his more hardline views on race.

Back home, Malcolm was making waves on the political scene. He was rubbing shoulders with world leaders and even met with Fidel Castro in Harlem. The man was playing chess while everyone else was playing checkers.

But all this globe-trotting and high-profile meetings were putting Malcolm in the crosshairs. The FBI was watching his every move, and tensions within the Nation of Islam were starting to simmer.

Next time, we’ll see how these tensions came to a boil and led to a major turning point in Malcolm’s life. Don’t sleep on this, bros!
